Lights & heating
Place lighting and radiators, set every property, link them to walls, and use the full type catalogues.
Lights and radiators are first-class plan elements drawn to recognised symbol conventions (IEC 60617 for lighting, BS EN ISO 7518 for heating) — not generic furniture footprints. Both can be tied to a wall so they move with it.
Lights
Place lights with the Light tool: tap empty space, pick a type, and it’s placed and selected. Wall-mounted types snap to the nearest wall within 2 m (otherwise they’re placed free, and you can move or retype them).
Light catalogue
| Type | Symbol | Wall-mounted |
|---|---|---|
| Pendant | Circle with diagonal cross | No |
| Downlight | Filled disc in an outline circle | No |
| Floor lamp | Circle with inner disc and three feet | No |
| Picture light | Wall-side body with three light rays | Yes |
| Wall source | D-shape flat to the wall with a central spot | Yes |
Light properties
Open a light’s edit sheet (Property) to set:
- Type — switching to a wall-mounted type re-snaps it to the nearest wall.
- Brightness — 50–300 lumens.
- Colour — four presets (Warm White, Soft White, Cool White, Daylight) or any custom hex.
- Mounting height — 0–3.0 m in 0.05 m steps. The label adapts to the type (“Drop below ceiling” for a pendant, “Height from floor” otherwise). Hidden for downlights (flush with the ceiling).
Lights have no rotation or scale — orientation comes from the wall for mounted types. Drag a free light anywhere (with optional grid snap); a wall-linked light slides along its wall, staying glued to the inner face. A Move to other side of wall button flips it to the far face (useful across a shared wall).
Heating (radiators)
Place radiators with the Radiator tool. Wall-linking is mandatory — every radiator snaps to the nearest wall with no distance limit, so a tap anywhere finds a wall.
Radiator catalogue
| Type | Default footprint | Default output |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1000 × 600 mm, 80 mm deep | 1500 W |
| Vertical | 500 × 1800 mm, 100 mm deep | 1500 W |
| Heated towel rail | 500 × 1200 mm, 60 mm deep | 600 W |
| Designer | 1200 × 600 mm, 100 mm deep | 2000 W |
| Panel heater | 800 × 400 mm, 50 mm deep | 750 W |
Radiator properties
The edit sheet (Property) exposes:
- Type — changing it resets size, output and mounting height to that type’s defaults.
- Output — 100–5000 W in 50 W steps (rated to BS EN 442).
- Length — 200–2500 mm (the drawn length along the wall).
- Height — 200–2500 mm (vertical height, for 3-D and documentation; not shown in plan).
- Mounting height — 0–3.0 m, measured from the floor to the radiator’s top edge.
Drag a radiator to slide it along its wall (it never leaves the wall), and use Move to other side of wall to serve the adjacent room. The rated output feeds heat-load planning; combined with wall materials, it’s the basis for thermal analysis.
Staying flush when walls change
When a linked wall’s thickness changes, every attached light and radiator shifts along the wall’s inward normal so its wall-side edge stays on the new inner face — on both sides of a shared wall.
Visibility
Lights and heating each have a layer toggle (on by default), so you can show a clean plan or a full services view. Lights also feed the 3D engine’s artificial-lighting mode.
