3D engine in Kaleidoscope Plan

What it does

Kaleidoscope builds a 3D model straight from your 2D floor plan — walls with real thickness, doors, windows, floors and ceilings — then lets you light it, add materials and furnish it as you go.

Step-by-step guide

Capabilities

What you get

Built from your plan

Walls, doors, windows, floors and ceilings are created automatically from your drawing — no 3D modelling required.

Realistic materials

Real-looking wood, concrete, brick, tile, plaster, glass and carpet, with proper texture and reflections.

Lighting modes

Switch between simulated daylight, your own placed lights, and a clear analysis view to study a space.

Furniture in 3D

Chairs, beds, sofas and units appear in 3D, placed and sized to match your plan.

First-person walk-around

Drop to eye level and walk through the model — WASD on Mac, an on-screen joystick on iPad and iPhone — opening doors as you go, with collision so you never clip through a wall.

Polished rendering

Subtle lighting effects and colour grading give a convincing, photographic look.

How it works

From plan to deliverable in five steps

  1. 1 Open the 3D engine on any drawing.
  2. 2 The scene builds itself from your walls, doors and windows.
  3. 3 Walk through it in first person to explore the space.
  4. 4 Tap a wall, floor or ceiling to assign a material.
  5. 5 Switch lighting modes to study daylight and detail.
